Abstract |
200 cases of aseptic meningitis were clinically observed for 171/2 years from 1966, Jan. to
1983, Jun. Eitologic classification showed that there were 165 cases (82.5%) of unknown
etiology because virus was not identified, 30 cases (15.0%) of mumps, and 5 cases (2.5%) of Kawasaki disease.
The most frequent age group was early childhood (81 cases, 40.5%) and more frequently in males (139 cases).
Most cases developed during summer and autumn (163 cases, 81.5%) and the most frequent month was August.
The findings of spinal fluid showed that cells were increased in all cases, and protein and
sugar were mostly within normal limitation.
Except one cases expired, all patients were improved and discharged.
