Abstract |
A group of 514 newborn infants with gestational ages between 28 weeks and 36 weeks were
studied for the influence of pronolonged rupture of amniotic membranes and maternal hype-

control groups. (8.9% vs 18.8%, p<0.05) The occurence of these complications was associated with
a significant decrease in the incidence IRDS only in infants with gestational ages of 31 to 33 weeks.
(35.4% in the no complications group vs 11. 3% in the complications group (p<0. 05) or birth weight
between 1,501 and 2, 500 gm (16% in the no complications group vs 3.3% in the complications
