Abstract
Korean CAT (Children's Apperception Test), published by Human Development Institute of Ewha Womans University, was given to 108 children, 47 of rural area and 61 of Seoul city, all 10 years of age. living with both parents and free from mental retardation or psychotic illness. The children in rural area expressed aggression and ?eath more often in their responeses than the children in the big city, who, on the other hand, projected orality, sibling rivalry, identification with mother, acceptance by others, oedipal situation and compliance more often. Mother was described as nurturing and disciplining by children in Seoul and nurturing and hostile, rejecting by their counterpart in rural area. Father was portrayed as : nurturing and hostile, rejecting by rural children but nurturing and domineering by Seoul children. It would be, however, difficult, if not impossible, to draw persouality traits of each group of children from these results and more studies will be required to do that. This study presents normative data which should provc helpful in future application and research with the CAT. Since sibling rivalry, fear, toileting, sexuality, and identification with father were not projected adequately in this CAT study, additional researches to explore these areas are suggested.
