Abstract |
The leukocyte alkaline phosphatase (LAP) activities were investigated histochemically with the Tomonagas naphthol AS-MX phosphate method in 38 pregnant women at delivery and their 38 newborns and umbilical cords after delivery in the Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital in Busan from March to September, 1976. As control, 11 cases of 2 months old healthy infants were taken. The results were discussed and summarized as follows. 1) The LAP activities in the newborns and cord bloods were lower than that in mothers at delivery, but higher than that in the 2 months old healthy infants. 2) The LAP activity in the newborns was not influenced by sex, birth weight, duration of labor, type of delivery or Apagr score one minute after birth, but shorter the gestational age, higher the LAP activity in the newborns. |
