Abstract |
In the absence of associated congenital heart defect the prognosis of complete heart block is believed to be good. Reports of Adams-Stokes attack in these patient are rare. Experience with a 13 year old Korean boy of transient complete A-V block with Adams-Stokes attack in childhood is reported with literatural review. The patient was admitted to Ewha Womans University Hospital with chief complants of respiratory difficulty and chest discomfort on Dec. 28, 1975. Initial EKG taken on 12 hours later after admission recorded as complete AV heart block with atrial rates of 136/min, ventricular rates between 15/min and 36/min and prominent U-wave of uncertain significance. He was treated with atropine, dichlortride and steroid hormone, recovered completely and discharged in good, conditions including clinical and normalized EKG findings on 13th hospital days.
