Abstract |
We took statistical and clinical observation for prematurity and low birth weight infant according to new definition who had been delivered at Ewha University Hospital during the last 4 years from Jan. 1st 1971 to Dec. 31th 1974. The results obtained were as follows. 1)Incidence of prematurity on gestational age less than 37 week was 7.2% and the incidence of low birth weight infant on body weight less than 2. 5kg was 7,3%. 2)Mortality rate of low birth weight infant was 22.3% and there was high mortality rate on winter and summer.(Jan. Feb. Jun. Jul.) 3)Incidence of prematurity and low birthweight infant by sex was more frequent on.
female than male each other. 4)There was no obvious decrement of incidence of prematurity and low birth weight infant by each year. 5)Incidence of prematurity and low birth weight infant by maternal age was rare on 26~30 years old and frequent on less than 20 years old or more than 40 years old and low birth infant by parity was more frequent on multiparity than primiparity. 6)Mortality of low birth weight infant was higher as the birth weight was low. And that mortality was high if the gestational age was less than 33 week or more than 40 weeks.
7)Causative disease of mother who^was delivered low birth weight infant or prematurity was multiple pregnancy, toxemia, premature memberane rupture etc. and almost death cause of low birth weight infant was prematurity and respiration associated disease. 8)Average weight gain of low: birth weight infant by our hospital care was 29.21 gram and. maximum weight loss was appared on average 6.6 th. day after delivery and average weight loss was 20 gram/day. |
