Abstract
Author studied blood sugar level in to 100 out of 532 neonates, divided into 5 groups as toxemia of pregnancy, delivery type, duration of labor, respiratory distress syndrome and gestational period (premature, fullterm, and post-mature) at Ewha Womans Univ. Hosp, from May to Aug. 1972. Blood sugar was determined in somogyi-micro method from cord blood at delivery and from femoral vein during next 72 hrs. serially. 1. Low blood sugar level was obtained 1st 24 hrs after delivery in babies with shorter gestational period. The lowest blood sugar was noted 2〜3 hrs after delivery temporally. 2.Premature, respiratory distress syndrome was revealed lower blood sugar level than normal full-term infants. 3.Neonates of toxemia mother especially eclampsia mothr was revealed lower blood sugar level than normal full term infants, and it lasted longer after showing lowest blood sugar level at 2~3 hrs after delivery. 4.No remarkable relationships was observed in delivery type and duration of labor, except slight low blood sugar level in babies with prolonged labor over 24 hrs.
