Abstract |
The National Medical Center is a general hospital, and is located in the east part of Seoul, from where emergency cases are admitted to the Emergency Clinic. One first-year resident examines these patients first, and then calls a staff doctor from the appropriate department for further evaluation and management. The author reviewed the records in children under 15 years of age during the 3 year period from March, 1963 to February, 1966. Return visits were not included. 1)A total of 473 convulsion cases were observed. This represented 12.8 per cent of the total emergency clinic visits in children. The most frequent types of convulsions were "acute febrile" and others were associated with tuberculous meningitis, idiopathic epilepsy, intracrancial infections (except tuberculous meningitis) and tetanus.
