Abstract
Statistical analysis according to W.H.O. classification for the patients admitted to Dept, of Ped.NMC during the years of Jan. 1966 to Dec. 1970 was made. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Total No. of patient during 5 years period were 3192, of which 1197 were male, 62. 5%. Male to female ratio was 1.7 : 1. 2) No significant yearly variation of patient was observed due to limited bed capacity of Ped.Dept. NMC. 3) On age distribution, school aged group were the most frequent group consisting of 23. 3% (713 cases) and infancy proper, adolescent in the order of frequency. 4) 2/3 of all patients were under 6 years of age. 5) No significant variation among admitted patients was obseved as a whole except Jap. B. encephalitis on seasonal and annual distribution. 6) Infectious and parasitic disease were the most frequent, 1150 cases (29. 2%) and respiratory tract disease, 637 cases (16.1%'), neonatal disease, 503 cases (12. 7%) in the order of frequency. 7) Among infectious and parasitic disease group, gastrointestinal infectious disease was the most frequent, 361 cases (9.1%) and tuberculosis, parasitic disease in the order of frequency. 8) Among respiratory tract disease, pneumonia was the most frequent disease, 447 cases (11. 3%). 9) Among neonatal disease, prematurity was the most frequent, 345 cases (8. 7%) and the next was birth trauma, 48 cases (1. 2%).
