Abstract |
Estimation of the levels of tissue enzymes in the circulating blood has become a useful aid to
diagnosis of cell damage in many organs, but enzyme changes in the blood following brain damage have
been found to be inconstant. In order to clarify it, authors carried out the investigation of changes of serum lactic dehydrogenase in experimentally induced rabbit brain injury.
Following injection of 0.05 ml of 0. 1% AgNO3 solution into the rabbit brain by stereotaxic apparatus,
we examined serum lactic dehydrogenase activity by spectrophotometer.
The following results were obtained. 1. Marked elevation of LDH, above 1000 u/ml of mean value, were observed in caudate nucleus, globus pallidus and midbrain.
2. Moderate elevation of LDH, between 500 u/ml and 1, 000 u/ml were observed in mammillary body, hippocampus, putamen and amygdala.
