Abstract
The glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(GOT), glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) activities, protein and sugar values in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) were examined in central nervous system diseases and compared with control group and summary of the results are as followings, 1)The GOT and GPT activities in control group are 12. 4士4. 6units and 10. 5 ±5. 7units. 2)The GPT activity in CSF in each CNS disease group is similar to that of the control group without any association of the severity of the CNS diseases. It is acertained that the values of protein and sugar is observed to be corresponded to each disease. 3)The GOT activity in CNS diseases except the tuberculous meningitis is significantly elevated compared to that of control group. The GOT activity particulary in the purulent meningitis is significantly elevated compared to those of other CNS diseases group. 4)The association between the prognosis and GOT activity in the tuberculous meningitis is not clear but in other disease group it seems that the prognosis is most often worse in cases with higher GOT activity
