Abstract |
Vertical transmission of hepatitis C virus(HCV) has been reported recently. The authors experienced one case of vertical transmission of HCV in infant of the mother who had active hepatitis C durig pregnancy. At delivery, HCV RNA(+), IgG anti HCV Ab(+), IgM anti HCV Ab(+), mile elevation of liver aminotransferase level and mile fatty liver of ultrasonography were found in the mother. At birth HCV RNA(+) and IgG anti HCV Ab(+) were found in the baby. HCV RNA(+), IgG anti HCV Ab(+) and IgM anti HCV Ab(+) were noted on the day 107 in the serum of the infant. We used reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) technique to find very small amount of HCV RNA in the serum. All those findings suggest vertical transmission of HCV from mother to infant. |
