Abstract |
A 11/2 year old male child was admitted to the Department of Pedíatrics of Chosun University
Hospital because of dyspnea and coughíng.
on physical examination, intercostal and subcostal retraction were observed, and dullness and
decreased breathing sound were auscultated on the right side chest.
Seven months earlier, the patient developed a mass on the right side testis and has grown rapidly
and was admitted to the Department of Urology of this hospital. After the admission, orchiectomy
was performed and the diagnosis was established by microscopic findings of resected testicular mass
showing endodermal sinus tumor. However the patient was discharged without chemotherapy and
radiation therapy.
The X -ray films of the chest showed increased density on the right lung field with mediastinal
shifting to the left. The pleural fluid was reddish color and pap smear of the pleural fluid revealed
class IV finding, Serum alpha-fetoprotein level was 480 ng/ml and serum LDH level was 470 IU/ L.
After the admission, the patient was not improved and discharged hopelessly.
A brief review of literature was made. |
