Abstract
Warshaw reported radiat flux is closely related to distance between light source and patient for phototherapy. We tried to compare 30 cm distance (group A) frome light source to patient with 80 cm (group B) for effect of phototherapy. 1) Radiant flux were 4.68±0.3㎼/cm2/nm in group A phototherapy unit ard 1.49±0. 02㎼/cm2/nm in group B phototherapy unit. 2) The mean rate of fall of serum bilirubin per day was 2.47±1.43 mg% in group A and 1.81±1.3 mg% in group B. (p<0.1) The mean peak rate of fall of serum bilirubin was 2.80±2.15 mg% per day in the 24〜48 hrs of phototherapy in group A and 2.28±1. 55 mg% per day in the 72〜96 hrs of phototherapy in group B. 3) The mean duration of phototherapy was 64.8 hrs in group A and 74 hrs in group B. The cure rate of phototherapy in group A and group B was 24. 5% and 10% respectively within 48 hrs and 71.7% and 45% respectively within 72 hrs.(p<0.05) Conclusively we reconfirm that the distance between light source and patient is important factor in accomplishment of effective treatment of neonatal hyperilirubinemia.
