Abstract
14 cases of clinically proven tuberculous meningitis were studied by computed tomography at Keimyung University, School of Medicine during the period of 23 months from April 1980 through Februrary 1982. We obtained some results through C-T scan. We observed the clinical progress of the disease to the abnormal C-T findings and investigated the relationship between C-T findings and prognosis of the patients.57.1 % of tuberculous meningitis had abnormal C-T findings such as infarction (44%), hydrocephalus(31 %), brain atrophy(19%), and calcification. The patient with normal C-T finding showed better prognosis than those with abnormal results. Infarction and brain atrophy began to appear earlier than hydrocephalus or calcification. Authors may concluded that computed tomographic findings of tuberculous meningitis in children may be helpful in assessing the diagnosis, disease progress and prognosis of the patient.
