Abstract |
This is a report of the youngest patient with essential hypertension and the first case in a girl under fifteen years reported in korean literature. The patient is a 13 years and 6 months old girl who was first seen with symptoms of acute glomerulonephritis and fou d high arterial blood pressure which ranged 320 systolic and 180 mm
Hg diastolic. The acute glomerulonephritis signs almost clearedup upabout one month later, However,
high blood preassure persisted ranging about 200 systolic and 120 diastolic. About 5 months after the first admission the blood pressure has remained at 180/90 mmHg. Every possible diagnostic procedures were carried out to rule out the posibility of disorders of the central nervous system, kidney, cardiovascular system, endocrine system and finally of the pheochromocytoma and primary aldosteronism. In this patient the regitine test was negative following discontinuation of antihypertensive drag for a week. Serum electrolytes level were within normal limit and urinary concentrating capacity of kidney was also revealed within normal rangs. From all the evidence presented, it is reasonable to concluded that there had been hypertension for some time before the first visit to the clinic. It is possible to assume that the acute glomerulonephritis was not the cause nor the secondary
-manifestation of the hypertension in this particular patient.
