The mainstay of treatment in children with Graves' disease is antithyroid drug therapy. Most commonly used drugs are methimazole(MMI) and propylthiuracil(PTU). These drugs inhibit thyroid hormone synthesis through mechanisms that interfere with the action of thyroid peroxidase.
