Clinical and bacteriological studies on the 107 cases of urinary tract infection who were admitted to the Dept, of Pediatrics, N.M.C. from Sept. 1962 to September, 1970 were made. The results were as follows: 1) Among the 107 cases, 80 cases (74.8%) were male and 27 cases (25. 2%) were female. 2)Age incidence showed 1 to 6 years to be most commonly affected (41.1%'). The youngest patient was a 17-days-old. 3)Most cases developed during the summer and early automn. 4)Fever was most common chief complaints and failure of thrive, feeding problem, upper respiratory tract infection, cloudy urine and irritability were next common. 5)Hematological and urinary examinations disclosed [low hemoglobin in 14.3%, leucocytosis in 25. 3%, elevated sedimentation rate in 48. 6%, proteinuria in 37.4%, hematuria in 17. 6% and pyuria in 53.8%. 6)I.V.P. was performed in 9 cases with recurrent urinary tract infection and 4 cases of them showed abnormal findings. 7)E. coli and coliform bacilli were most prominent strain. As the result of sensitive test, furadantin was most sensitive drug to the E. coli (95. 2%) and coliform bacilli (92.9%).
