Clin Exp Pediatr. 2001;44(12):1404-1412.   Published online December 15, 2001
Purpose : This study was undertaken to analyze and compare the effects of percutaneous balloon angioplasty(BAP) on postoperative re-coarctation and native coarctation of the aorta(CoA) and to thereby contribute to the development of treatment methods for CoA. Methods : The subjects in this study were 21 children who had undergone BAP from Jan. 1996 to Dec. 2000 in the Division of Yonsei Pediatric Cardiology....

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1999;42(4):519-525.   Published online April 15, 1999
Purpose : Due to controveries surrounding in the incidence of coarctation of aorta which reports previously stated rare among Orientals, we evaluated clinical characteristics, natural courses of coarctation of aorta and effects of different surgical modalities. Methods : Medical records of 51 patients with coarctation of aorta, diagnosed by 2-dimensional echocardiography in Kyungpook University Hospital Pediatric Cardiac Laboratory from June 1985...

Purpose : There are controversies in the operative methods of aorta with ventricular septal defect in infancy. Recent results of single stage operation for coarctation of aorta with intracardiac defects were regarded as comparable to staged operation. We evaluated our interim results after single stage operation for coarctation of aorta with large ventricular septal defect in infancy. Methods : Twenty six infants who had received...

Coarctation of the aorta is defined as a narrowing of the aorta in the region of its juncture with the ductus arteriosus or its vestige, and is rare in Orient. We have experienced three cases of Coarctation of the Aorta combined with other congenital cardiovascular anomalies and diagnosed by cardiac catheterization and cineangiography.
