Furosemide-Induced Nephrocalcinosis in Very Low Birth Weight Infants

Renal calcifications are a recognized complication of furosemide therapy in premature infants. Particularly in infants with chronic lung disease, the use of this potent diuretic is associated with hypercalciuria, which may predispose the infant to medullary nephrocalcinosis and renal calculi.
