Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase(G-6PD) deficiency is the most common disease-producing enzyme deficiency of human beings, but extremely rare in Korea. Four well-characterized clinical syndromes are recognized: acute, oxidative stress(drug or infection) induced hemolytic anemia; neonatal hyperbilirubinemia; favism and chronic nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia.
