Clinical observation has been made on 125 cases of severe type of encephalitis admitted and treated at the pediatric department of Chonnam University Medical School Hospital during the period of 1954 to 1968. 1.Hydrocortisone levels in cerebrospinal fluid and urine have been determined in normal children and in encephalitis patients before and after the administration of hydrocortisone or prednisolone. 2.A significant but trace amount of hydrocortisone was detected in normal cerebrospinal fluid.
