Sejung Sohn, Seong Ho Kim, Eun Jung Bae, In Seung Park
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1996;39(8):1111-1121.   Published online August 15, 1996
Purpose : The adverse reactions of prostaglandin E1(PGE1) are troublesome in the preoperative management of critical patients with ductus dependent congenital heart disease, and a preparation with less adverse reactions is preferable. The effects of Lipo PGE1, a new preparation of PGE1 contained in lipid microspheres, were compared with those of conventional PGE1(PGE1-CD). Methods : Lipo PGE1 was infused at a rate of 5...
The Effect of Prostaglandin E1 Infusion for Palliation of Ductus Dependent Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease in Neonates
Ji Hee Park, Chang Sung Son, Joo Won Lee, Young Chang Tockgo
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1992;35(3):364-370.   Published online March 15, 1992
Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) was administered to 12 neonates with cyanotic congenital heart disease in whom pulmonary or systemic blood flow were entirely or significantly dependent on persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus. 10 neonates responded favorably to PGE1, by showing significant increase of PaO2 after PGE1 infusion but remaining 2 neonates with hypoplastic left heart syndrome failed to respond. The...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(1):59-65.   Published online January 31, 1990
Between December 1987 and November 1988, Twenty infants with ductus-dependent congenital heart disease received intravenous infusion of PGE1 in the pediatric department of Seoul National University Hospital. Nineteen infants had cyanotic congtenital heart diseases and one had severe coarctation of aorta. Fifteen infants responded to PGE1 treatment and the mean Pa02 increased from 24 mmHg to 40 mmHg within one hour of infusion. Seven infants...

Prostaglandins play an important role in mediating uterine contractions and thus may also be involved in the triggering of premature labor and spontaneous abortion. Consequently inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis has been suggested as a potential means of inhibiting premature labor. There are many controlled studies which have described the use of indomethacin for inhibition of premature labor with success. But...
