Clinical Observation of Dds Induced Methemoglobinemia.

Various compounds activate the oxidation of hemoglobin. These include nitrites, sulfonamides, aniline derivatives, chlorates, quinones, acetanilid and phenacetin. The striking offender has been DDS in infancy and childhood who live in Kangwon Do, Korea. The common untoward effects of DDS are hemolytic anemia and methemoglobinemia.
