Clin Exp Pediatr. 2017;60(7):208-215.   Published online July 31, 2017
Purpose

Activation of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) present on circulating monocytes in patients with Kawasaki disease (KD) can lead to the production of proinflammatory cytokines and interleukin-10 (IL-10). We aimed to determine the association of the frequency of circulating TLR2+/CD14+ monocytes (FTLR2%) with the outcomes of KD, as well as to compare FTLR2% to the usefulness of sIL-10.

Methods

The FTLR2% in patients...

Relationship between serum sodium level and coronary artery abnormality in Kawasaki disease
Sora Park, Lucy Youngmin Eun, Ji Hong Kim
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2017;60(2):38-44.   Published online February 27, 2017
Purpose

Kawasaki disease (KD) is an immune-related multisystemic vasculitis that occurs in children, especially ensuing from a coronary artery abnormality. Sodium level is known to be related to vascular injury, which could affect the progress of KD. The purpose of this study was to determine the serum sodium levels that could predict the occurrence of cardiac and coronary artery events in...

Polymorphisms of tumor necrosis factor-alpha promotor gene in Kawasaki disease and relation to the risk of coronary artery lesion
Se-hwa Kim, Jang-won Yun, Young-hyuk Lee, Eun-jung Cheon
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2009;52(4):476-480.   Published online April 15, 2009
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the polymorphisms of the TNF-alpha promotor gene, its susceptibility to Kawasaki disease (KD) and to assess whether the TNF-alpha promotor gene polymorphism was related the risk of coronary artery lesions (CALs). Methods : From January 2003 to January 2007, 51 children (30 boys and 21 girls) with KD and 48...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 2003;46(3):302-307.   Published online March 15, 2003
The long-term clinical issues in Kawasaki disease are concerned with the coronary artery lesions that result in aneurysmal formation, thrombotic occlusion, progression to ischemic heart disease, and premature atherosclerosis. We here report a 3 month old infant with Kawasaki disease complicated by giant coronary aneurysm with thrombosis. After urokinase(10,000 IU/kg) and heparin(400 IU/kg) were injected for two days as thrombolytic...
