Brief report was made about the status of MCH in Korean rural area from the:experience in tfie medically indigent area. Crude infant mortality rate was 89 per 1, 000 live birth. Forty-two cases of shigellosis in children were treated with sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (Septrin) from May 1970 to October 1972. 90% of the patients showed clinical improvement within 2 days and 40 of the 42 patients (95%) within 4 days.
