It is associated with asphyxia, intracranial hemorrhage, and hyaline membrane disease, and develops to D.I.C., which attributes to neonatal mortality and morbidity. Clinical study was performed on 32 high-risk neonates and 20 mild illness cases, who had been admitted to Department of Pediatrics, Ewha University Hospital, during the period of 2.6...

Jung Soon Whang, Soon hee Kim, Moon Ja Kim, Keun Lee, Je Geun Chi
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1988;31(8):1064-1070.   Published online August 31, 1988
Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia is an uncommonly recognized disorder that is characterized by rapidly progressive proliferation of atypical megakaryocytes and their precursor cells, and fatal course. Abnormalities in chromosome 21 may have a more than random relationship to acute megakaryoblastic leukemia. The authors reports a case of acute megakaryoblastic leukemia in a 2 month old female patient who was admitted for evaluation of hepatosplenomgaly. Multiple organ infiltration...

A case of fatal pulmonary candidiasis was diagnosed at autopsy of 5-month-old female infant. Patient had mild coughing, poor weight gain and marked hepatosplenomegaly. She had no sign of immune dysfunction but developed fever, wheezing and intermittent respiratory distress. Chest P-A showed infiltrations of multiple lobar pneumonia. Postmortem examination revealed the whitish necrotic mass like lesion with a feature of lobar pneumonic consolidation in...

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1988;31(2):196-201.   Published online February 28, 1988
Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia due to ABO Incompatibility was contributed to Kemicterus in our country. We studied the difference between ABO compatible group and incompatible group, such as, day of appearance of Hyperbilirubinemia, tendency of bilirubin concentration change, reticulocyte, hemoglo- bin, and duration of Hyperbilirubinemia. As a result, clinical symptoms were more severe in incom- patible group rather than compatible group. And so, we stress to early diagnosis...
A Case Report of Isoimmune Neonatal Thrombocytopenie Purpura.

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1987;30(12):1452-1455.   Published online December 31, 1987
Isoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura is an uncommon cause of purpura in the newborn infant, caused by fetal-maternal platelet incompatibility. The maternal isoantibodies against fetal platelet antigens, which are lacked in mother’s platelets, cross placenta and cause destructions of baby’s platelet. A bady bom with IITP was diagnosed in the first day of life and treated successfully with platelet concentrate of mother’s blood.
The Study of Creatinine Clearance in Neonates.
Dong Sun Hong, Moon Ja Kim, Seung Joo Lee, Keun Lee
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1987;30(2):139-143.   Published online February 28, 1987
The creatinine clearance rate, an index of glomerular filtration rate, has been reported to develop according to gestational and postnatal age. The purpose of this study is to examine changes in creatinine clearance with gestational age and postnatal age in preterm and full term healthy neonates. The results were as follows: 1) The creatinine clearance rate increased according to gestational age. 2) The most in creament of creatinine...

Effects of Phototherapy on Peripheral Blood Findings in Full Term Newborns.
Moon Ja Kim, Keun Lee
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1986;29(7):710-714.   Published online July 31, 1986
The effects of phototherapy used in treatment of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia on peripheral blood findings were studied in full term newborns. There was no significant difference between daily mean hematocrits and WBC counts of phototherapy group and control group. The mean platelet count was not decreased during phototherapy in treated group, but significantly increased after phototherapy was stopped. 、
Comparison of Transcutaneous Oxygeon Tension with Arterial Oxygeon Tension in Newborn Infants.
Jung Hee Lee, Moon Ja Kim, Keun Lee
Clin Exp Pediatr. 1985;28(3):211-216.   Published online March 31, 1985
The reliability of transcutaneous oxygen tension was evaluated with simultaneous arterial oxygen tension in 70 nonsick and 30 sick neonates who were admitted to the nursery of Ewha womans University Hospital from Feb. 1984 to June 1984. The results were obtained as follows; 1)The relation between transcutaneous oxygen tension and arterial blood oxygen tension in nonsick neonate was y=43.31 +...

Congenital supravalvular aortic stenosis is congenital narrowing of the ascending aorta that may be localized or diffuse, originating at superior margin of the sinuses of Valsalva just above the level of the coronary arteries. We have experienced a case of congenital supravalvular aortic stenosis who had characte- ristic face and mental retardation associated with aortic aneurysm. We have presented this case and reviewed the literature.
