Recent trends of healthcare information and communication technologies in pediatrics: a systematic review
Se young Jung, Keehyuck Lee, Hee Hwang
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2022;65(6):291-299.   Published online December 15, 2021
· The innovation of healthcare information communication technology (ICT) was accelerated with the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs).
· Telemedicine currently has no technical barriers.
· EHRs and personal health records are being connected, and mobile/wearable technologies are being integrated into them.
· Conventional rule-based clinical decision support systems have already been implemented and used in EHRs and PHRs. Artificial intelligence/machine learning improves precision and accuracy.
Big data analysis and artificial intelligence in epilepsy – common data model analysis and machine learning-based seizure detection and forecasting
Yoon Gi Chung, Yonghoon Jeon, Sooyoung Yoo, Hunmin Kim, Hee Hwang
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2022;65(6):272-282.   Published online November 26, 2021
· Big data analysis, such as common data model and artificial intelligence, can solve relevant questions and improve clinical care.
· Recent deep learning studies achieved 0.887–0.996 areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve for automated interictal epileptiform discharge detection.
· Recent deep learning studies achieved 62.3%–99.0% accuracy for interictal-ictal classification in seizure detection and 75.0%– 87.8% sensitivity with a 0.06–0.21/hr false positive rate in seizure forecasting.

Knowledge-guided artificial intelligence technologies for decoding complex multiomics interactions in cells
Dohoon Lee, Sun Kim
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2022;65(5):239-249.   Published online November 26, 2021
· The need for data-driven modeling of multiomics interactions was recently highlighted.
· Many artificial intelligence-driven models have been developed, but only a few have incorporated biological domain knowledge within model architectures or training procedures.
· Here we provide a comprehensive review of deep learning models to decipher complex multiomics interactions regarding the biological guidance imposed upon them to facilitate further development of biological knowledge-guided deep learning models.

Developmental profiles of preschool children with delayed language development
Jeong Ji Eun, Hyung Jik Lee, Jin Kyung Kim
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2014;57(8):363-369.   Published online August 25, 2014
Purpose

This study examines changes in developmental profiles of children with language delay over time and the clinical significance of assessment conducted at age 2-3 years.

Methods

We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 70 children (62 male, 8 female), who had visited the hospital because of delayed language development at 2-3 years, and were reassessed at ages 5-6. Language and cognitive abilities...

Cognitive and other neuropsychological profiles in children with newly diagnosed benign rolandic epilepsy
Soonhak Kwon, Hye-Eun Seo, Su Kyeong Hwang
Clin Exp Pediatr. 2012;55(10):383-387.   Published online October 29, 2012
Purpose

Although benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE) is a benign condition, it may be associated with a spectrum of behavioral, psychiatric, and cognitive disorders. This study aimed to assess the cognitive and other neuropsychological profiles of children with BRE.

Methods

In total, 23 children with BRE were consecutively recruited. All children underwent sleep electroencephalography (EEG) and were assessed on a battery of comprehensive neuropsychological...

The Relationship between Developmental Quotient in Children with Delayed Language Development and Later Intellectual Quotient

Clin Exp Pediatr. 2004;47(5):496-504.   Published online May 15, 2004
Purpose : The objective of this study was to test the predictive validity of developmental test for later intellectual development in young children with delayed language development. Methods : The study subjects were 66 children who had presented delayed language development and had an initial developmental test and a follow-up intelligence test. The mean age at initial test was 34.2 months(17-48...
Prognosis according to Etiology and Age at Diagnosis in Congenital Hypothyroidism.

Clin Exp Pediatr. 1990;33(4):506-513.   Published online April 30, 1990
A retrospective study on patients with congenital hypothyroidism was undertaken. The following results were obtained from 17 patients, on whom follow up investigations were available. 1) Males outnumbered females. The etiologic classification revealed: thyroid agenesis (64.7%), dyshormonogenesis (23.5%), and ectopic thyroid (11.8%). 2) In two-thirds of cases the diagnosis were made under 1 year of age, with 23.5% of cases being diagnoses below 3 month and 41.2%...
